7 August Venice - Civitavecchia

It’s the end of the day. Sitting in our office in our suite with the gentle rock of the boat taking us to Genoa, our first stop. Our cabin is absolutely gorgeous with inlaid walnut, in décor colours of blue and burnt orange. We have our own hallway, lounge, private balcony and a separate bedroom. Our bathroom is marble with a bathtub. We have a separate dressing room as well. Our butler has taken our laundry and Bill has sent his shoes to be polished. We have two LCD T.Vs, and everything we like is free .We can help ourselves to the minibar. Bill is in heaven. The Yacht Club has their own private VIP area with pool; their own separate retreat with everything laid on and 2 bars with everything free. Our dining is separate to the rest of the dining room with priority seating. We have our own separate entrance to the spa with free sanctuary pass. Have to pay for the treatments and pay for Internet. Still trying to work out our priority lift card that will take us directly to the floor we want. Everybody else must wait.
Today was no ordinary day for us. We woke in Venice at 5.30 to catch the early Waterbus to make our flight to Rome. Our chauffeur met us for our Mercedes Limousine transfer to the port. Our driver could not speak English at all (as much as my French). On reaching the port he got lost and dropped us off at the wrong spot. Another curve ball was thrown at us; the Saudi Royal family is holidaying on the ship complete with entourage and totally stuffed up the Yacht club organisation as they arrived today. Totally inconvenient. The butlers were beside themselves with their workload stretched to breaking point. This did not impress us as we have the other Royal suite and were left high and dry when we arrived because they took all the attention. You know how I feel about all things celebrity, so will probably be sharing some sort of meal with him or her. Hope they are decent. The ship is absolutely lovely so will take a few photos. Very over the top, but all the colours seem to work. The staircase in the Yacht club and main atrium is Swarovski crystal. It sparkles. Photos to come. Our first dinner was a table for two at the stern of the ship right in the middle with unbelievable sea views. Went to our first show, a guy called Eric Boo. Absolutely dreadful. Was a cross between Mr. Bean, Marcel Marceau and something else. Couldn’t wait for the show to end am sure it will get better. Supporting acts were great.
